The Houston Rockets came into this offseason with renewed optimism after finally breaking a four-year playoff drought. Much of that improvement stemmed from the defensive presence of Fred VanVleet. VanVleet was also often in the spotlight for his heated exchange with Draymond Green during the season.

The Rockets extended VanVleet’s contract this summer. He signed a two-year, $50 million deal. The agreement showed Houston’s faith in his leadership. VanVleet himself demonstrated his commitment by joining the Rockets coaches in Turkey alongside Alperen Sengun.
