MANCHESTER, N.H. —

A new bail law took effect Sunday in New Hampshire.

The law rolls back the 2018 reforms that ended most pretrial detention.

Under the new law, certain felony-level and violent offenders are required to go in front of a judge before they can be released.

Repeat offenders arrested while out on bail will now be automatically held until a hearing takes place.

Officials say the law aims to hold more people accountable and prevent crimes by offenders who should be in jail.
