More than 80 firefighters tackled a devastating school blaze believed to have been sparked by solar panels.

Emergency crews rushed to St Martins School near Oswestry, Shropshire, after flames erupted at approximately 5.25pm on Sunday (21/9).

The fire proved so intense that personnel from both Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service and North Wales Fire and Rescue Service joined forces to combat the blaze.

Investigators suspect the inferno originated from solar panels installed on the school's rooftop.

Aerial drone images captured on Monday (22/9) show roughly 20 solar panels had been destroyed by the flames.

The educational facility, which serves 700 students aged between 3-16, remained shut on Monday.
