Planning Minister John Carey has pushed back on the idea Western Australia’s housing crisis can be easily fixed by the widespread adoption of tiny homes, arguing they are not a silver bullet.
At a housing event on Tuesday, Mr Carey said he had heard several proposals for tiny homes — typically less than 37sqm — but that they were not the final solution.
“I’m sure, too, there is no single silver bullet to boost housing supply and construction, tiny homes are not the answer,” he said.
“As the Minister I have an open door policy, you must always be open to new ideas and be prepared to challenge your policy solutions.
