'Dramatic' water rate hike planned for Bloomington businesses

While Bloomington’s water utility plans to hike residential rates by about 20%, Indiana University , local businesses and smaller utilities could see their rates rise by about 50%.

And local customers with an irrigation meter would see their rates more than double.

The proposal from the City of Bloomington Utilities has to be approved by state regulators, but the city expects rates to hit customers’ bills in mid- to late 2026.
