Saturday, Sept. 27, marks the first anniversary of Hurricane Helene. Climate change is impacting the frequency and intensity of natural disasters like hurricanes and severe flooding.
A study by nonprofit group Climate Central, published in Environmental Research: Climate, revealed that climate change increased the intensity of most Atlantic hurricanes between 2019 and 2024. Ocean temperatures made higher by human-caused climate change are fueling more intense hurricanes in the Atlantic.
The Augusta Chronicle wants to know your thoughts on climate change and how we can best report on the issues in locally relevant ways. Please take our survey to tell us your concerns about climate change and how you think we can improve our reporting. The survey closes at noon Sept. 30.
