WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — This afternoon, Senator Reed will play host to the man in charge of the nation’s finances, as Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell attends a luncheon here in Rhode Island.
Senator Reed will introduce Chairman Powell at the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce’s yearly economic outlook luncheon.
Powell’s visit comes as the Federal Reserve has been in the center of criticism from the White House.
The fed moved to cut interest rates last week, for the first time since January when the president took office, which angered the president as he wondered about the delay.
President Trump is also waiting for the Supreme Court to rule on whether he can fire Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook.
Chairman Powell will attend the luncheon at the Warwick Crowne Plaza.
