HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) - A public health advisory for Carpenters Lake in Daviess County.
Health officials say samples from the lake show a presence of a harmful algae bloom in the area. Officials also say the blooms can occur when waterways have excess nutrients, warm temperatures and low flow or low water conditions. They advise people and pets to stay out of the water.
In same cases, the blooms can cause rashes, stomach pain and respiratory irritation.
Officials also advise that if people suspect they have seen a harmful bloom, they should contact the Kentucky Division of Water.
