HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) - $36,000 have been taken from a Cook County, Illinois inmate, and the case leads police to a suspect in Evansville.

Evansville Police say the Ottawa, Illinois Police Department contacted them about fraudulent purchases made from the inmate's account at Financial Plus Credit Union.

The department said it appears the suspect in the case has an Evansville address and committed the crimes from that location.

The transactions took place from August 18 to 19 and included purchases, withdrawals and transfers. A police report shows the credit union reimbursed the inmate, leaving them at a financial loss.

The report did not list any suspects.
