By now, I have to believe the vast majority of people know who Charlie Kirk was and are somewhat knowledgeable about some of the inflammatory things he has said. It is also important to know that he has been given credit for getting young men out to vote, consequently leading to the election of President Donald Trump.

Regardless of what you think about Kirk, here are points showing his killing never should have occurred:

Instead of being inside a gym or large lecture theater, it was an open-air outdoor event open to anyone. (For one thing, it is pretty hard to carry a long rifle into an enclosed space without being noticed.)

Had it been held in a football stadium, there could have been metal detectors, bag checks, and ID checks.
