In response to the Sept. 21 Canton Repository letter to the editor titled “Stop religious overreach,” I strongly disagree with the writer.

Atheism is a problem in today’s world. I’ve noticed that atheism is allowed to impose its agenda and no one else’s and call it a civic right. I think we need to remember that this country was founded on religious principles and that does include religious freedom. As President John F. Kennedy once put it on the day of his inauguration, “The rights of man come not from the generosity of the state but from the hand of God.”

I have no problem with prayer in a public setting and even school setting as long as the school does not interfere with it and endorse it. I feel if children were allowed to do this, maybe our schools would be better. No one would fo
