Neil Doncaster has denied young footballers in Scotland face a £10,000 fine if they approach another club's academy regarding the possibility of a transfer. ‌

The SPFL boss appeared before MSPs today alongside SFA chief executive Ian Maxwell to answer questions over concerns about how child players are registered by professional clubs . ‌

Doncaster confirmed some rules regarding young players’ movement between clubs will be removed to avoid confusion. ‌

The football league supremo told members of Holyrood's health and sport committee: "The Scottish FA rule that prohibits Club Academy Scotland players from approaching another club - there was somewhat inaccurate commentary about fines of £10,000 for breaching that rule.
