Four Bald Head Island residents are running for two expiring seats on the village council.

Slaughter Fitz-Hugh, Jesse Hermann, Andrew R. Hano Sr., and Debra Drumheller are contending for two expiring seats on the Village of Bald Head Council. Thomas J. Antalik and John L. Fisher had also filed to run but dropped out of the race after the filing period ended.

The village of Bald Head Island has roughly 300 residents living on the island year-round. A five-member council with four councilors and one mayor run the small village.

In Bald Head Island, council members serve a four-year term and elect one member as the mayor pro tempore. The mayor pro tempore is to perform the duties of the mayor during the mayor’s absence or disability, in accordance with general law.
