(CNN) — President Donald Trump is expected to meet with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries later this week as lawmakers stare down a government funding deadline , according to three sources familiar with the plans.
It will take place Thursday, one of the sources familiar and another source told CNN.
Schumer and Jeffries confirmed the meeting in a joint statement on Tuesday, saying the president had agreed to meet with them this week in the Oval Office.
“In the meeting, we will emphasize the importance of addressing rising costs, including the Republican healthcare crisis. It’s past time to meet and work to avoid a Republican-caused shutdown,” Schumer and Jeffries said in the statement.
