A Mundelein pedestrian was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Waukegan over the weekend, Lake County authorities said Monday.

The coroner’s office identified her as 36-year-old Michelle Heidbrick.

Heidbrick was struck by a vehicle at 9:34 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Grand Avenue and Jackson Street.

Police said she was crossing the street near the intersection when she was hit. The vehicle that struck her then fled.

Heidbrick was brought to Vista Medical Center in Waukegan, where she was pronounced dead from her injuries. A Monday autopsy showed death from a blunt force injury, the coroner’s office said.

The incident remains under investigation by the Waukegan Police Department’s Major Crash Unit.
