The decomposing skeletal remains of a woman’s torso were found in a garbage bag by sanitation workers picking up trash at a Queens park near JFK Airport , police said Tuesday.
The remains were found near 149th Ave. and Brookville Blvd. on the edge of Idlewild Park in Rosedale just before 8 a.m. Monday, cops said.
The workers were clearing out discarded trash in the brush when they found the garbage bag, cops said. They had just thrown it into the truck’s hopper when they smelled a foul odor.
Police were called and found the skeletal remains of a woman’s torso decomposing inside the bag, officials said.
The city Medical Examiner’s Office will perform a forensic autopsy to try to identify the woman and determine how she died.
