Kolkata, Sep 23 (PTI) A downpour in the dead of night for three hours left large areas of Kolkata submerged under water, with the IMD recording 185.6 mm of rain between 2.30 am and 5.30 am on Tuesday.

The heavy rain was caused by a low-pressure area, and showers are likely to continue in the already wet districts in the southern part of West Bengal till Wednesday morning.
