DeKalb County Drugs and Major Crimes Unit Update

FORT PAYNE, Ala. — In early August 2025, the DeKalb County Narcotics Unit and the DeKalb County Criminal Investigation Unit merged to form the DeKalb County Drugs and Major Crimes Unit. The new unit is comprised of seven investigators and four narcotics investigators.

Since the merger, the unit has successfully closed several cases, including charging an individual in connection with an overdose death for supplying illegal drugs. The team has made over 20 drug-related arrests and seized several pounds of illegal substances, including methamphetamine, fentanyl, marijuana and kratom.
