Authorities have released the name of a man killed in a broad daylight shooting in southwest Birmingham over the weekend.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office on Tuesday identified the victim as Travis Sentell Russell. He was 42 and lived in Dadeville.
West Precinct officers were dispatched about 12:45 p.m. Saturday to the neighborhood in the 700 block of McMillon Avenue.
Officer Truman Fitzgerald said they arrived to find the victim bleeding on the ground behind an SUV in someone’s driveway.
Russell was rushed to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:31 p.m.
Fitzgerald said the preliminary investigation indicates the shooting happened near where the victim was found. Investigators believe he was seeking help when he collapsed.
No arrests have yet been announced.
