CTS Courier has alerted customers to a growing fraud scheme involving fake receipts used to steal from unsuspecting clients. According to the company, two suspects linked to more than 40 cases have been apprehended, and the matter is currently in court at Area 23 Police Station Lilongwe.
The scam reportedly works as follows: fraudsters pose as online sellers, issue counterfeit CTS Courier receipts to buyers, and claim parcels have been sent. When customers attempt to collect their items, they are declared missing, forcing the company to issue refunds. CTS Courier says this practice has cost both money and its reputation.
In addition, some fraudsters have been caught posing as customers at branch offices, pretending to send parcels but intending to steal from the company and its clients.
