WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- Officers took a man into custody Monday after he allegedly carjacked someone at gunpoint in the Columbia Heights neighborhood over the weekend.
D.C. police arrested Avery Robinson III, 25, of no fixed address, on Monday in connection with the incident, which took place in the overnight hours of Sept. 20.
Just minutes before 3:30 a.m. that day, Robinson approached the victim in the 1400 block of Park Road. According to a police report obtained by DC News Now, he then pulled out a handgun and forced the victim to give him their phone and keys before driving away in their car.
Following an investigation, authorities charged Robinson with armed carjacking (gun).
