KENTON COUNTY, Ky. (WXIX) - A man wanted for a felony probation violation was apprehended Tuesday morning after a second SWAT situation within 24 hours took place in Northern Kentucky.

According to Northern Kentucky SWAT Deputy Director Eric Nelson, Kenton County police were trying to serve a warrant on Donald Dale Newcomb, of Morning View, at the Pon De Lon Hotel on Dixie Highway Monday.

When officers tried to make contact with him, Newcomb, 37, refused to leave the motel, claimed he had a firearm and did not follow the officers’ orders, Nelson explained.

“Due to the elevated risk to officer and public safety, the Northern Kentucky Special Weapons and Tactics (NKY SWAT) team was requested to assist. NKY SWAT responded to the scene and executed a search warrant on behalf of the Kenton
