LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A Lancaster man has been charged after police say he kept four individuals in his basement and was using their funds for his own financial gain.
On July 25, the Lancaster Police Department was notified of a death that occurred at 425 Churchill Drive. Details on the reported death at the home were not released, but the investigation later led to the arrest of Donnie Ray Birchfield Jr., 35.
While police investigated the death, they discovered that Birchfield was allegedly holding several "vulnerable adults" in his basement. Officials say he withheld at least two credit/debit cards, along with an account number, that belonged to one of the victims.
