A collection of double and single yellow lines, or 'school keep clear' markings, are to be painted in 13 roads across a Kent borough. Kent County Council is consulting on the changes to the highway in Maidstone .

The consultation opened on September 5, and will end at 12noon on Monday, September 29 at 12noon.

The council said the reasons for the measures were for the safety of people "or other traffic " using the road, or any other road, and preventing accidents; to make it easier to use the road, for any type of traffic including pedestrians; and to prevent damage to the road or to any building on or near the road.
