SHREVEPORT, La. — A Bossier City man has been found guilty of attempted manslaughter for shooting and seriously injuring a man last year.

A Caddo Parish jury deliberated for less than three hours before returning a unanimous verdict Tuesday against Derrick Deone Morris, 44.

The jury heard from the victim, Tauris Willis, who testified that on April 19, 2024, he was sitting in his car in the north Shreveport Cherokee Park neighborhood when a masked man approached him. The man, who Willis identified as his lifelong friend Morris, pulled off the mask, said, "I told you I was going to get you," and shot him three times.

Willis was shot once in the head and in each leg, with one bullet severing his femoral artery.

Morris will return to court for sentencing on Oct. 20 and faces up to 20 years
