Singer Lulu broke down in tears as she opened up about her battle with alcoholism. ‌

The 76-year-old pop star has shared her struggles with drinking in her new memoir, If Only You Knew, and was tearful as she discussed it in a moving interview on BBC Breakfast on Wednesday (September 24). ‌

The Shout singer - who has now been sober for 12 years - told how she was a "highly functioning alcoholic", admitting she even managed to keep it a secret when she was a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing in 2011. ‌

She said: "I'd be working, I'd do my stuff, you know. I could fall on the bed asleep having been drunk.

"But if the alarm would go, I'd be up, put myself together, I'd go to work."
