The next step has been taken in planning to bring a Home Depot to Port Orchard.

A Department of the Army permit application for constructing a Home Depot at Bethel and Salmonberry roads has been submitted, according to a notice from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on Sept. 17.

California-based Laras Anderson & Associates. Inc. proposed to discharge up to 45,000 cubic yards of fill materials in wetlands and ditches on a site northeast of the Bethel-Salmonberry Road intersection for the commercial development. The planned project would include clearing and grading of the site to provide level surface for paving and construction of the proposed building, parking lot, and utilities, according to the notice.
