The much-awaited inauguration of the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) has been delayed again, which was slated for September 30. Maharashtra Forest Minister Ganesh Naik confirmed that the ceremony has been deferred, ending weeks of speculation.
It has now been rescheduled to October 30. As per reports, due to heavy rains across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and the Konkan area it has been postponed.
Officials cited loose soil and muck on roads leading to the airport in Ulwe as obstacles for visitor access.
In addition to this, the opening of the remaining phase of Mumbai Metro 3, between Worli and Cuffe Parade, has also been pushed and will now be inaugurated on October 8.
