CHICAGO — A teen girl is recovering in the hospital on Wednesday after an argument led to a shooting outside of a South Loop grocery store overnight.

According to police, the shooting unfolded just after 10 p.m. outside of a Jewel-Osco in the 1200 block of South Wabash Avenue.

While specific circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, police said a witness told officers that the gunfire erupted shortly after an altercation broke out between the victim and an unknown offender outside the store.

Officers said the altercation eventually turned physical when the offender allegedly pulled out a gun and opened fire on the victim.

Following the shooting, the teen was hospitalized in good condition.

Currently, it is unclear what led to the shooting and no arrests have been made.
