September 24, 1974 - Omaha Sen. Richard Proud called a special session on Sept. 24, 1974 while acting as Governor.
State law allowed him to act as the state’s leader because the Governor and Lieutenant Governor were out of state. Neither, however, approved of Proud’s actions.
The Governor called it irresponsible and stopped the session. It was supposed to be about the state’s high limit on interest for loans.
