The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast the development of a fresh low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, which likely to bring widespread rainfall to Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal. An upper air cyclonic circulation has already formed over the coastal areas of central Myanmar and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal, setting the stage for intensified weather activity.

System to Intensify Further

According to the IMD, the system is expected to move westwards and develop into a low-pressure area by September 25 over the north and adjoining central Bay of Bengal. It is likely to strengthen into a depression by September 26, positioned over the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay, off the coasts of South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh by September 27.
