GRAND FORKS — A preliminary group of college hockey players will soon receive invites to play for the U.S. Collegiate Select team at the Spengler Cup.
Team management is expected to send between six and eight invites within the next week.
The U.S. Collegiate Selects team will play at the annual Spengler Cup from Dec. 26-31 in Davos, Switzerland.
Other participating teams include HC Davos, IFK Helsinki (Finland), HC Sparta Praha (Czechia), HC Fribourg-Gottéron (France) and Team Canada, an all-star team of Canadians who are playing professionally in Europe.
This is the first time a college all-star team has participated in the event.
In 1981, the University of Minnesota played in it. In 1982, UND competed in it.
