Macomb County Clerk Anthony Forlini will run for the Republican nomination for Michigan Secretary of State next year, joining a growing field seeking the state's top election administration role.

Forlini, 63, has been Macomb County Clerk since 2020, having previously been a state representative and Harrison Township supervisor. “Michigan citizens want to know their vote counts and that the process is run with transparency, credibility, and accountability,” he said in a Sept. 24 statement. “They want their licenses renewed in a timely manner. They want to know that someone who leads the Bureau of Elections is committed to the rule of law, due process, and someone who knows how to make government work for them. I am their man.”
