A Westmoreland County woman is facing charges after police said seven children, between the ages of 10 months and 15, and several pets were found living in deplorable conditions.
WTAE reports that police were called to a home in Irwin on Monday after getting a report of six unsupervised children “covered in filth” chasing a dog.
When police arrived, they found a neighbor holding one of the children, who appeared to be injured. The neighbor said this wasn’t the first time the children had been left alone.
One of the older children told police their mother, Marah S. Urch, 33, had told them to babysit the others while she went to a softball game. She did not leave the children any way to contact her.
