It’s been a hard month for the King’s Way Christian community, and especially the members of the baseball team.

The Knights lost one of their own when teammate Tony Tarnoski died in a drowning accident in the Columbia River on Aug. 13 .

Tony was just 16.

Emotions went from shock and disbelief to sadness and grief.

There has not been a lot of room for fun and laughter.

So after holding a memorial service for him on Sept. 13, Tony’s parents, Michelle and Steve Tarnoski, wanted to do something fun.

And so was born the Tony Tarnoski Memorial Wiffle Ball Tournament, which was held Saturday at Luke Jensen Sports Park.

It was the type of event that Tony would have loved, King’s Way Christian baseball head coach Todd Pisarczyk said.

“It was fun,” he said. “Just like thinking about him.
