Debenhams Group/ Boohoo brand has warned suppliers of late payments raising fears the digital fashion giant is suffering a credit squeeze despite securing a new £175 million borrowing facility last month.

The company has written to some suppliers telling them it was “running behind on payments” and has asked them to confirm how much stock they could deliver during September without being paid more, according to a company e-mail seen by The Telegraph . It's unclear which brand or brands the issue may relate to.

The threat of potentially withholding some supplier payments comes just months after the newspaper also revealed that customers were facing delays of up to a month of refunds on returned goods.
