During the SEC schedule reveal for the next four seasons on Tuesday night, the SEC Network host and the ESPN analyst praised the decision to bring back the game that hadn’t been played since 2023.
“This game needed to come back,” Finebaum said on SEC Network. “They’re literally next door to each other, an hour and a half away. That’s part of the geographical part of it. I’ve been around long enough to see Mississippi State upset a No. 1-ranked Bear Bryant Alabama team, ending a 27-game winning streak and costing them a championship. This game matters a great deal to both fanbases.”
