WILMINGTON— The issuance of New Castle County tax bills will likely be delayed until the end of October as the constitutionality of setting different rates for non-residential and residential property taxes is debated in the Delaware Court of Chancery.
A tentative agreement to delay the issuance of the new tax bills was discussed in a hearing Tuesday afternoon, with attorneys debating whether it would be possible to settle the matter before the end of next month and meet the county’s tax payment deadline of Nov. 30.
New Castle County noted in a letter to the court last week that it likely wouldn’t be able to issue any new tax bills before Oct. 15.
