A North Liberty woman arrested last year in Minnesota after crashing a car with the dead body of her ex-girlfriend inside has been convicted of murder by a Hennepin County jury.

Margot Lewis was found guilty Monday on two charges: second-degree murder with intent - not premeditated, and second-degree murder with intent - while committing a felony.

Lewis was arrested in Olmsted County, Minnesota in June 2024, after the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash in which Lewis had been driving 105 mph and had driven off the roadway near the intersection of Interstate 90 and Highway 42 in Eyota, east of Rochester.
