One man was killed and another injured in a two-vehicle crash on Sept. 24 in the 2400 block of East Silver Springs Boulevard.

Here's what we know:

When did the crash happen?

The Ocala Police Department got the call at 10:19 a.m. and arrived on scene at 10:24 a.m. First responders declared the man dead at 10:28.

What happened?

According to Ocala Police, a pickup truck was westbound on the boulevard and an SUV was eastbound.

For an unknown reason, the SUV driver drifted into the westbound lane. The vehicles collided head on.

The SUV driver died. The pickup driver was injured and taken to a local hospital.

The investigation

As of 11:20 a.m. there were traffic detours at Silver Springs Boulevard and 25th Avenue.

This is the ninth traffic fatality in the city of Ocala so far this year
