Zubeen Garg, the popular Indian musician and singer best known for his Bollywood hit “Ya Ali,” has died. He was 52.
Garg died Friday after a scuba diving accident in Singapore, organizers for the North East India Festival announced. His death was confirmed as a drowning, according to the Times of India .
Garg was scheduled to perform at the festival, which was supposed to take place Friday through Sunday, before organizers canceled it.
“With profound grief, we share the heartbreaking news that our beloved icon, Zubeen Garg, passed away today at Singapore General Hospital around 2:30 p.m.,” NEIF organizers wrote in an Instagram post Friday.
