Disney is raising monthly subscription prices for its streaming services, which include Disney+, Hulu and ESPN, at a time when the company is still reckoning with a backlash over its sidelining of late-night show host Jimmy Kimmel.

Disney-owned ABC took his long-running late-night talk show, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” off the air briefly after facing pressure from the Trump administration, station owners and conservative critics over comments he made after the killing of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk.

Kimmel returned to air Tuesday – the same day the price hikes were announced. While annual price increases aren’t unusual, the timing of the latest hike is awkward, as some subscribers threatened to quit in the wake of the Kimmel news.
