SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
Wednesday is expected to experience a notable cooldown in temperatures in Northern California following near-triple-digit heat the day before.
Meteorologist Tamara Berg said Wednesday's forecast high for downtown Sacramento is 88 degrees, down from the 99 degrees recorded Tuesday. The average for this time of year is 87 degrees.
Highs in the Foothills could reach the low-to-mid 80s, while the Sierra could see temperatures in the mid-to-upper 70s.
Following a comfortable morning with a subtle breeze and mostly clear skies, clouds will begin to sweep up from the south and into the Northern California region.
Berg said some showers are possible closer to sunset hours in the areas along and south of Interstate 80. Rain is likely to linger into early Thursday morning.
