Family members of a father and son killed last week by a suspected DUI driver pleaded with a judge Wednesday to deny the defense’s request for the man to undergo a mental health evaluation.

James H. Paulson, 73, of Camas appeared Wednesday in Clark County Superior Court to be arraigned on two counts of vehicular homicide, one count of reckless driving and one count of driving under the influence.

He’s accused of driving his pickup into 28-year-old Jose Enrique Quevedo and 6-year-old Joshua Quevedo as they walked home from a school bus stop in east Vancouver , killing both.
