STANTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Decked out in a crown and sash, a young boy from central Kentucky has already won over the judges, but it’s his story that makes him a true winner.

“We’ve been married for nine years when we adopted our first one, and she said, I want a brother and it just kept going from there,” said Tucker’s dad, Phillip Townsend. “We couldn’t have kids at all.”

Phillip and Marissa Townsend have adopted eight children; they hope to have their ninth child adopted by Christmas.

“The baby is two and we got two 16-year-olds, so from two to 16,” said Phillip.

While some in that situation might say their hands are full, the Townsends say their hearts are.

“They’ve all changed our lives,” said Phillip. “I wouldn’t trade it for an ounce of nothing. I really wouldn’t, it’s what I was me
