JOHNSTON CITY, Ill. (WSIL) -- The Illinois Department of Transportation announced plans to replace the bridge carrying Stiritz Road over Interstate 57 near Johnston City.

Starting Monday, Sept. 29, Stiritz Road will close from Dublin Road to Illinois 37 to facilitate the work. Local traffic access on Stiritz Road will remain open between these limits.

The closure is expected to last until Sept. 1, 2026.

Drivers should pay close attention to changing conditions and detour signs near the work zone. Officials urge motorists to obey speed limits, avoid using mobile devices, and stay alert for workers and equipment.
