Coatbridge and Bellshill MP Frank McNally welcomed the passing of the Employment Rights Bill in the House of Commons, describing it as the most significant strengthening of workers’ rights in a generation. ‌

The Bill, which passed its latest Commons vote brings into law protections that will benefit millions of workers across the UK. ‌

MPs also voted down House of Lords amendments from the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats that sought to water down protections from workers. ‌

The changes will deliver day one rights, including paternal leave, protection from unfair dismissal and bereavement leave.
