TYLER, Texas — An East Texas man was hospitalized after suffering from a medical issue while detained by Tyler Police.

Records obtained by CBS19 indicate police responded to a call about an assault on Glendale Drive in Tyler. Police indicated a man, identified as Rashah Williams, had assaulted a woman and caused her bodily injury in an incident report.

Williams was taken into custody and transported to Smith County Jail. While in custody, Rashah reportedly suffered a medical issue and was transported to UT Health hospital by EMS.

Williams' status is currently unknown. CBS19 is working to confirm more details.
