Travel between NYC and Poughkeepsie will get a whole lot quicker this fall! Governor Kathy Hocul just announced Metro-North’s new super express trains to launch on October 6th.

Travel will take under 90 minutes between Poughkeepsie and NYC —shaving off 70 minutes a week for commuters.

While the service itself isn’t unexpected, it was initially planned for a 2026 launch. Starting this October, however, it arrives a full year ahead of schedule .

At a press conference, Governor Hochul said:

“Delivering better, faster Metro-North service to Hudson Valley commuters will propel economic growth across our state and improve quality of life…This is just the start – work remains underway to deliver even more service improvements along the line, improving reliability and making trips up and
