CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - Constitution Day is nationally recognized on September 17, marking the anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787.

But Southeast Missouri State University commemorated the holiday on September 24 with an expert speaker and law school insights.

Students and staff attended the campus-wide event, highlighting “The Continuum of Constitutional Content and Reform.”

Washington University School of Law Dean Stefanie Lindquist spoke directly to event attendees about how our nation’s founding document continues to guide democracy, even as the country faces new challenges.

Political Science students at SEMO emphasized the importance of understanding the Constitution in today’s political climate.
